Equestrian Team
The Equestrian Team is comprised of individuals seven years of age or older. Many of whom have mental, emotional, or physical challenges. The Equestrian team rides normally on Saturdays from April till October. Riders are expected to attend rides at Rolling Ridge Riding & at local/regional horse shows. Equestrian riders compete in adapted classes in horse shows.
Participating in the Equestrian Special Olympics, 4H, and open horse shows in Rockingham County, and in Raleigh, NC at the regional and state levels.
Equestrian Team Schedule:
Equestrian Team rides are held on Saturdays (normally) and generally run from April through October. Ride Times will vary based on seasonal temperatures, usually afternoons in Spring and Fall and Mornings in Summer. Our Facebook page will be your resource for ride times and possible cancelations due to weather or other circumstances.
Horse show dates/times will be available as we find shows to participate in, and will be listed on the calendar here and via Facebook events, & e-mail.
All riders must complete the required medical and registration forms annually to participate in Equine activities/therapy at Rolling Ridge Ridging. Click here to go to the riding forms page.
What to Bring on Ride days:
*These are simply suggestions, not requirements*
Lawn chairs/picnic blankets (there are picnic tables available for your use)
Water – Rolling Ridge Riding does provide bottled water for their volunteers &
riders, but if preferred, you can bring your own. (This is also an item greatly welcomed as donation!)
Helmet – Rolling Ridge Riding provides all riders with appropriate riding helmets.
If you prefer to bring your own, please ensure it is a certified riding helmet. Note: Bike helmets
or other athletic helmets are not considered appropriate riding attire.
Sunglasses will be helpful, as the Sun can be bright in the riding areas.
